Now, the fact that its not clearly marked is uncool. It does not work for all subscription levels, which is a different claim. This item does work for all previously released versions of FFXIV. Perhaps they need to be clearer on the order page what that IS, fair, but they didn't misrepresent their product. I do agree that SE should mark that game cards are only for Standard subscription, but it's not fraud. Sure, do your best to get what you wanted and return the item you didn't want, but don't wholly blame SE for your own failure to vet the product in haste. Take a look at this sub for people unable to get refunds on Steam/Non-Steam expac codes. You bought a product before doing due diligence and making sure it would work for you, it happens A LOT. I feel like this is a case of "you both are at fault". Pop quiz: what happens to zealots in FFXIV? Did you learn anything from the plot?) You can't make up law saying Squeenix is always right and Amazon is always wrong. (Edit: Fanboys who downvote the warning are just hiding info from other players. Contact them in writing, then forward it to Amazon. You'll likely get your money back, and the more pressure we put against corporate the faster this will stop. If Square-Enix rejects your time card, don't upgrade to a higher subscription than you need. They'll have a supervisor call me back, but I've been told to expect that I'll get my money back, and get to keep both the (still technically active) time codes, and get to keep the chocobo code. They didn't have a way to contact Squeenix to complain, so I gave them their El Segundo, California number. They immediately pledged to grab a supervisor on Monday who is authorized to refund a 'no refunds' order. After forwarding him a copy of my email as proof the rep took the deception seriously, and put me on hold to alert the department. So I contacted Amazon and had one of their reps in the Video Game department call me. This is not an issue of "Square Makes the rules, accept them or GTFO". Under California law, this is fraud by intentional misrepresentation (California’s Civil Code §1710). Thank you,Agent MichelleSQUARE ENIX Customer Support If you have an Entry level subscription, you would need to upgrade it to Standard before using a Game Time Card. However, using a Game Time Card would require a Standard level subscription as the GTC provides 60 days of a Standard level subscription. Game Time Cards are compatible with all platforms/verisons (PC/Mac/Steam/PS4) of FINAL FANTASY XIV. I contacted Square Enix support and let them know they were selling the card for 'all versions, backwards compatable' on Amazon. The whole point is to manipulate people via the 'sunk cost' fallacy - if you've just spent thirty dollars, what's another two bucks a month to get it working? In reality, that's twenty four bucks a year - by the end of year one you've now spent $54 dollars to redeem two months of subscription. The page includes a drawing of a moogle in despair. They stuck to their demand.tions, click here to upgrade to a 'Standard' subscription. I contacted Square Enix support and let them know they were selling the card for 'all versions, backwards compatible' on Amazon. The time card technical description is short and sweet:Ħ0-day time cards work on all versions of FINAL FANTASY XIV and is backwards compatible with all previously released versions. I know people can be protective about Square-Enix but they're doing something really nasty and folks have a right to know:Ī whole lot of people bought the 60 day time card on Amazon to get the Fat Black Chocobo promotion, so much so it became the #2 digital video game product sold by the end of the promo.
